Calling All Competitors!

It’s almost time to register for the Eighth Annual Best Dam Barbecue Championship!

This year’s event has once again been formally sanctioned by KCBS and remember, we are the barbecue championship that has been designated by the State of Nevada as a State Championship barbecue competition – so our event is a qualifier for the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbecue AND American Royal World Series of Barbecue!

Event Dates & Location

The Best Dam Barbecue Championship will be held as part of the Best Dam Barbecue Challenge event on Memorial Day Weekend – May 25th and 26th, 2012, at beautiful Bicentennial Park in Boulder City, Nevada.

Event Proceeds

Proceeds from the Best Dam Barbecue go to support a wide variety of local community organizations in Boulder City, for example:

  • Boulder City Emergency Aid – The local welfare office and food pantry that assists Boulder City residents in need of financial assistance for rent, utilities and groceries.
  • Lend A Hand of Boulder City – The local organization dedicated to assisting seniors remain independent in their home by providing transportation, in-home assistance, companionship and/or equipment loans.
  • Every 15 Minutes – A local program coordinated through joint cooperation of several emergency response agencies to re-enacts the aftermath of a fatal automobile collision to educate Boulder City High School sophomores and juniors about the potential consequences of a drinking and/or texting while driving.
  • St. Jude’s Ranch for Children – The Boulder City-based campus committed to assisting abused, abandoned and neglected children and families.

KCBS Judges

Our KCBS contest representatives this year are Kelly and Kathleen McIntosh. They have assisted with our event from its very first year and always help us to make it a great experience for our competitors and judges.  Also, because we believe strongly that a quality competition requires the highest standards in judging, we strive to use 100% KCBS certified judges.

Barbecue Vending

Due to the size of Bicentennial Park and its surrounding streets, we are limited to accepting only 42 competition teams, only 7 of which will be approved to sell barbecue food to the general public.  If you wish to apply to be one of the barbecue vendors at this event, please send your request to us by clicking here so that our Vendor Coordinator can consider your application.  Remember, you must compete in the Best Dam Barbecue Challenge in order to qualify to be a barbecue food vendor.
