Thank you for your interest in participating in the 2012 Best Dam Barbecue Challenge as a competition judge!
Judges must be present the entire time from 10:30am – 2:30pm on Saturday, May 26th.
We begin accepting judging applications in January and the link to the application is posted under the “Judges” category on our website.
Because we believe strongly that a quality competition requires the highest standards in judging, we strive to use 100% KCBS certified judges at our event. Applications from certified judges will be confirmed on a first-come, first served basis, so we encourage early application. Non-certified applicants (16 years of age or older) may apply to be placed on a standby list.
By submitting an application, you are not guaranteed a judging spot. We reply to applicants within 10 days of receiving an application to acknowledge receipt and inform of status. If you do not receive our reply, please let us know.
If you are confirmed as a judge, we will provide you with the details about logistics. Competition judging will take place from 10:30am – 2:30pm and judges must be present the entire time (absolutely no exceptions). If you arrive late, your judging seat will be forfeited.
If you submit a judging application and are then not able to attend our event, please inform us via email as soon as possible by clicking here.
Our KCBS contest representatives this year are Kelly and Kathleen McIntosh. They have assisted with our event from its very first year and always help us to make it a great experience for our competitors and judges.
Our judging coordinator this year is Lettie Zimmerman, assisted by Mike Gardner. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about becoming a judge at the Best Dam Barbecue Challenge. If we can assist you in any way, please feel free to contact us via email by clicking here!
